For example, our current project is to IMAGINE RAIN!!

Rain has been falling in South East Australia, filling reservoirs and recharging the water table, but but the worst drought on record still has a firm hold in southern Queensland, central New South Wales and South Australia – so no rain has fallen in the Murray-River catchment. In Australia’s worst drought for over 100 years, this vast river system is struggling to survive. Lack of rain, over-allocation of water to irrigators, poor planning and a drying climate have reduced the upper reaches of this vast river system to a mere trickle. During the past year, flows into the Murray-Darling Basin have been the lowest on record. Climate scientists say this is just a sample of what’s to come because of global warming.

Dry Darling River There is a large bush consensus. Most of the older people say that our climate is just following a cycle. No farmer sets out to be unsustainable. Most are trying hard to adjust to less water under difficult circumstances. Everyone in Australia knows of the mighty Darling, the nation’s longest river. Songs have been written about it, ballads have been penned on its banks, and fortunes made from its waters. Now, as its upper reaches whither, an environmental debate rages about irrigation rights from its flows. We need Rain Now!!!

    ...Falling and soaking into dry earth, filling rivers, dams & tanks.  Imagine heavy, grey clouds...because you can't have rain without clouds!  Imagine the sky dark with rain clouds & the rain falling steadily over a large area, especially in the catchment areas.  Imagine your windshield wipers swiping away at the falling rain.  Imagine the sound of rain falling on your roof, on your car, down drainpipes and into tanks and gutters.  When you walk in nature, in your neighbourhood, imagine the rain making the ground damp, imagine puddles forming, imagine the trees sighing in the rain, drinking it through leaves and bark.  Imagine the smell of rain! 

Current Reality is a paradoxical mixture of perceptions, beliefs and assumptions.  For example most people regard "a nice day" as one with a cloudless, blue sky.  A day where you can dry your washing easily, when the kids can run and play outside, etc.  And yet there is an ever-increasing awareness that, in many parts of Australia at least, it isn't raining as much any more.  There is deepening concern about climate change and the obvious effects global warming is having on our weather patterns.  The end result is less rain!

Human consciousness plays a large part in the creation of end results.  If enough people imagine an end result, as John Lennon obviously encouraged his audience to do, imagine what we could create!  "Imagine all the people, living life in peace.."
